NYA Elm Street

Well, here is the house we looked at and liked. I'm sorry that I don't have any photographs of my own, but my camera lens was fogged over and I figured it was more important to look the house over than try to get the camera working. I promise, more photos will come after this weekend. Anyway, here's the scoop...

1,624 square feet
1 car attached garage (concrete floor & stairs to the basement)
2 bedrooms
1 1/2 bathrooms

Room dimensions:
Main Floor
Living Room - 12X20 (gorgeous green carpet)
Dining Room - 9X12 (open to kitchen)
Kitchen - 10X12 (lots of counter & cabinet space)
Bedroom 1 - 12X12 (hardwood floors)
Bedroom 2 - 11X12 (hardwood floors)
Full Bathroom - Dimensions Unknown (lovely pink tile)
Laundry - Dimensions Unknown

Basement
Family Room - 15X20 (lots of room for storage)
1/2 Bathroom - Dimensions Unknown (contains a toilet & a poor looking unenclosed shower)

Heat - Hot Water
Fuel - Natural Gas
Air Conditioning - None
Water - City (Connected)
Sewer - City (Connected)
Roof Age - Unknown, but looks newer
Basement - Full (able to finish w/egress window)
Exterior - Wood (painted a less than desirable shade of yellow)
Fencing - Chain Link (small section of backyard)
Driveway - Concrete
Lot Size - 86X150 (.25 acres)

We like this house more than the one in Henderson for the following reasons: more potential for expansion (by finishing the basement), we feel better about the source of heating being reliable, which leads us to heating efficiency (probably better), larger rooms, good size lot with big backyard, and Norwood Young America is probably a better location for us for work (especially when the new 212 is finished).

The down side is that it is more expensive than the one in Henderson. We would need to negotiate a lower price in order to make it work.

Trusted contractor & friend, Steve M., will be helping us out by looking over the house on Sunday afternoon. We will rely a lot on what he says in making our decision whether or not to pursue this house.

So, please be praying for us. Pray that we seek God's wisdom first, that we be patient, that we act with humility and not aggression, and that He gives us effective words to communicate with everyone involved and each other. May Christ be honored in our pursuit of a home.

More to come soon...
